I'm hungry...where do I go?!

Bread. Cheese. Lettuce. Formaggio. Olives. Mozzarella. Pizza. Pasta. Chocolate. Tiramsu. Gelato.

There you have it folks! Those are the main ingredients that consist of the diet of a Perugian. There are not many choices that expand beyond these points. If you love cheese then you will love it here. There are so many different types of cheeses ranging from mozzarella and beyond. The cheeses make the pizza and pasta something great and interesting. I remember one of my first pizzas  had mozzarella balls. I was very surprised because I was used to having cheese all over the pizza.

I really didn't like it at all. I like cheese and I wanted it on my pizza. But everything is not for everyone. I made it a job of mine to finally find a pizza place that suited me. I really like this pizza place on Gardibaldi. This place has great pizza and the people who work there are nice too. To me that is always a plus. I am use to having quality service and I appreciate quality food and quality people. The people there are friendly and nice. You can stay there as long as you want and have a great time. I went for the first time with Octavia and Sakeenah. Then I went there with my friend Kelsey and we had a great time!

Additionally, Il Bacio has various pizza topics that range from pepperoni, salame, formaggio, olives, mozzarella, and more. I enjoyed there peaceful atmosphere and the overall feel of the place. I would recommend this place for those who have friends and family coming to visit them. Its definitely a cute place to take your loved ones. Also, there is a restaurant  right outside of Lunabar. There a little on the pricey side but if you enjoy  upscale places then you might enjoy this restaurant. Its right by Lunabar you won't miss it!

Also, most people go to "Ciao Ciao's" which is located right outside of Umbra. The owner is the sweetest man ever! He greets everyone with a pleasant "ciao, ciao!" Everytime he speaks to you, you know that your important! The man and woman who work there are sweet too. You can get great sandwiches, pizza, salad with rice and chicken, sugar donuts, spinach, lasagne, etc. It is also a corner store where you can get many of your basic necessities (bread, food, fruit, drinks, toilet paper, softener, etc.)

When your not eating out try experimenting in the kitchen :) I have experimented with making pasta of all sorts. Some I have tried with vegetable oil and olive oil. I love sauce so I have tried different remedies. I have used regular types of pomodoro sauce and seasoned it to my liking. I have experimented with using orgiano, pepe, basil, and agil. I always say that its important to have some "flavor" in your sauce. I hate when its bland because it taste like nothing but tomato sauce. I  like to have some excitement in my food. Not a surprise but a nice awakening of migrated ingredients always does the trick for me. I also have added some ingredients of my own like olives, chesse, and pesto sauce.

Also, I was very surprised to have Italian yogurt which actually taste really good. The yogurt taste fresher than yogurt from back home. One yogurt brand I try is the "Coop" version of 'yogurt.'

On a lighter note....I still can't believe that I had Chinese food in Italy. To me it seems like such a contradiction. Chinese food in Italy! Che cosa?! But any who I am not complaining at all. Its nice to have some variety every now and then. In the states its really crazy that we have so many options. You can get just about anything--American, African, Chinese, Indian, Italian, and any dish imaginable in the states. However, that's not always the case here in Perugia!

he Chinese food was pretty good. I had fried rice, wantoons, and chicken with sweet and sour sauce. The rice was really tasty and the prices were very affordable. The name of the place is "Bella Shanghai." The people who work there are very friendly. They were very pleasant and they always had a smile on their face. There are two Asian women who wear pink oriental dresses. They are always happy to see a new face come there.

The second time I went I had fried rice, wantoons, and fried duck. The fried duck was not tasty at all. It tasted and looked like chopped up burnt meat. I would not recommend getting that dish. But there are plenty other dishes on the menu that are affordable. Also, I remember that me and my friend Kelsey both got earrings from one of the ladies at the restaurant. I thought that was very sweet.

I will keep you posted on the do's and dont's of food places in Perugia.
